Reflections for Class

  1. How do you think this video is relevant to Secondary Social Studies and English education?

I do not think that we are "amusing ourselves to death" per se, but it is slightly true. As time continues on books are becoming more and more obsolete, which is a true tragedy.  I think it is rel-event because well kids are less likely to pick up a book versus turn on the TV. Illiteracy rates are still an issue in America, despite us being one of the countries in the world with what is supposed to be a relatively good education system. And that isn't going to change. Because no one is making efforts for that to change. The more technology pries its way into the school systems and the more they bend over backwards for it to "keep up with the times" is only going to increase the probability of terminators taking over the world. I'm dead serious. Technology does NOT need to be the center of the universe. Generations before ours (and the ones to come) fared just fine without it. Is having it a nice luxury? Of course. Would I personally be upset if it suddenly was gone tomorrow? Or course. BUT that does not mean that it needs to be in control of everything and anything it can be. I don't want a classroom to turn into kids looking at a computer to "learn" with teachers becoming obsolete to machines, I'm not becoming a teacher to stand around and monitor computers to fix them when kids need help. I'm becoming a teacher so I can stand in front of a room and TEACH. Not play second chair to a fucking computer.
  2. What does the term ‘recognition’ refer to in the video and how could this concept be important in teaching and learning (5-8 sentence paragraph minimum)?

First and foremost I just want to say I do not like the number six. This is my sixth page on this blog and it therefore, because of that number, is already my least favorite.

I chose to add a search bar to my blog. I did this because, after pursing other sites, it was made apparent to me that I would need a tool with which readers could better access the information provided. Without having to stumble through all the mumbo jumbo in this lovely blog. I figured a search bar not only makes it easier to navigate but also gives it a more professional air as well.
